I have both a dad AND a grad in my life. I'll talk about both.
My dad is great because he's always there for me - answers all my inane questions, and likes to chat about work (we're in the same field). We love going to baseball games together, and he puts up with my silliness.
My younger brother is graduating high school. He is nearly 9 years younger than I am, but somehow, we get along fantastically. We both like video games (and have a Rock Band band together where I sing, and he plays guitar), love to read, have the same geeky interests (in comic books, movies, puzzles), and love to fight over pirates vs. ninjas. I'm going to miss him when he moves away for college, and I hope that he'll miss me too!

My dad has been my best friend, guide, teacher and counselor since my childhood. I'd consider myself successful in life if I can be to my children what he has been to me. This generous offer above would be a nice way to show him my appreciation this Father's Day! Thanks!

My dad is the best....as an adoptee, I was chosen especially for my dad. We may not be blood related but he didn't love me any less. I have always been a daddy's little girl and to this day I still feel very close to him. There isn't anything that he wouldn't do for my and my family. All I have to do is call and ask, he he comes. I consider myself very lucky to have been "chosen" by such a great man.

My dad is simply always there when I need him. He always has worked long hours, and even hours away, so we could live better lives.

My father was born in the hills of Virginia and was raised knowing only one thing, how to make moonshine. His mother died very early in life ans was raised by his father. By the age of seven he was driving loads of moonshine in a old ford stick shift, up and down the hills of Virginia. Living in poverty and doing only what he knew.
After turning 18 he left Virginia and joined the Military serving over twenty years for our country, serving three tours in Vietnam and Korea. He left the military as a Master Sergent E-8. Thats when he met my mother, opened a Carpet Business, purchased a home and raised four children.
Years later even with the store closing he managed to keep us all fed and clothed and comfortable in a nice 3 bedroom home by doing side jobs, whether it be roofing, mowing lawns or what ever needed done.
He did eventually gain employment with Schwanns Food for over 12 years and retired at the age of 65. After retiring he opened his own bar and was greatly respected in the community. I would watch him break up fights with a mini baseball bat in hand bouncing it off the chest of 6 foot men, warning them he wasn't going to have this going on in his establishment. Did I mention he was only five feet tall!!!
My father believed in taking care of responsibilities and ensuring everyone around him was happy and enjoying life. If us kids were ever punished we got our punishment and it was over with. He never held a grudge or stayed angry.
Only until a few years ago (Im 37 now) did I find out he wasnt my biological father. This only deepened my love and respect for him. All these years of working hard, keeping me comfortable and making sure I did right by others and the whole time doing this for a child that wasnt his. That alone speaks tons for the mans character and something we dont see this day in age.
Thats why I believe he is truely the best father in the world. I couldn't ask for anyone better.

Stephen, I heard today that Virginia might yet be able to have the film "Wettest County in the World" filmed here vs in West Virginia. VA film office is working hard...so ask Dad if he would like or you would like to be an extra. :)
What part of SW VA was he from? I am in Franklin Co (therefore the Wettest County in the World comment). Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful Dads! You deserve more than a day...but alas the lawns must be mowed...esp in SW VA where twice a week is still a shortfall.

My dad is a true servant leader. Best example I ever had.

my dad has been the best example in how to lead my life. not only has he shown me how to be a good person, but he has recognized and overcome some of his shortfalls to show that you can always become a better person.

My dad is the best because of his giving nature.

I was born on Father's Day (and this year my birthday falls on Father's Day again), so I've felt that my father and I have always had a special relationship. We haven't always had the best of times, but every day we try to make our relationship stronger.

My dad is the best because he sacrifices his own joys for his childrens' joys.
joe Jun 11th 2010 4:15AM
My father taught me to do the right thing.. always.
Self respect is also a major lesson he taught me.

I'm married 15 years to my husband and father of our three kids. He spends many hours working and rarely has time or money for himself.
He rarely complains about the fact that things are much harder for him than they ever were for his father who retired at 50.

My dad is the best because he can fix ANYTHING!
Stephanie V. Jun 10th 2010 4:15PM
My dad is the best because he always provides awesome advice - especially about electronics! Hubby is an amazing father because he gives up so much for the kids - he wants a flip and reader badly but knows it is money the kids need for school or food to feed the family so he does without - never complaining.
