Thanks for the interesting post Kraig. I also have been to Lukla by airplane, and I had my first and only (near) airsickness experience ever in that little 8 passenger plane. Oddly it wasn't the thrilling descent onto the Lukla airstrip that made me nauseous and looking for a paper airsick bag, but leaving the KTM airport and making the ascent to flying altitude, and in the first 5 minutes off the tarmac. After that it was a magnificent and beautiful trip. I have great photos through the cockpit window of our pitched descent to the Lukla airstrip. Wow!
On that particular trip to the Khumbu, immiedately after landing I hopped out of the plane, grabbed my backpack, and without a moment's hesitation began hiking straight to the next town of Pahkding (in my Teva sandals no less!). I had been to Lukla a few times before and do not find it the most pleasant place in the world.
