Man fined $65 for letting pet python crawl around Holiday Inn hallway
A 25 year old man from Mason City, IA has been fined $65 for letting his pet snake crawl uncontrolled through the hallways of the local Holiday Inn. The man was a guest at the hotel, and apparently felt that his 5 year old pet python needed some exercise. What convinced him to let the snake loose in the hallway is a mystery, but the hotel manager says the man was apologetic about the incident.
Now, I'm not a pet owner myself, but I do understand people who love their pets a lot - but to let a python loose in a hotel hallway just boggles the mind.
The Holiday Inn manager did remind guests that the chain is pet friendly, but that their hospitality ends with cats and dogs. So, next time you take a trip, you may want to find a pet-sitter for your python.

This is way over the top. The guy should have been fined a lot more than $65. He has to be a nut case.

65 dollar fine. He should be decapitated for being a a**hole on drugs. I hate stupid people. They have no worth in our society.

So if you find a spot on the carpet in your room it's snake poop ?

Not a good move on the young man's part, but then neither is bringing pets into public areas. Many of our society, including myself, are allergic to dogs and cats and furry critters. Who wants to end up in the hospital because someone takes their pet into public places?

People need to practice a little common sense when it comes to their pets, most places don't even allow dogs, never mind a huge snake.

Get a mask or stay home. This is your problem and I am sick of people who think I should know all of your ailments. If you have a problem take responsibility for it don't bug me.

Tom
You must really have a hard time if your allergic furry critters.
How do you explain that to your girlfriend?? LOL
zoidburg May 27th 2010 12:55PM
Sorry Tom, I am not about to change my life to suit you. I will try to accommodate you, but if you have allergy problems, or any other health problems, you need to protect yourself. I wont change my life so you can live a normal life. So quit expecting others to be responsible for your health.

Sign of the times, fools with pets that are wild animals. Again and again we read of so-called 'PETS', attacking innocent bystanders. A $65 fine seems very mild considering what damage this snake may have caused. Someone may well have had a Heart Attack encountering this snake. The law ought to be confiscation of the wild animal and a very stiff fine in the hundreds.

I suggest that first the animal be removed by authorities.Secondly, the individual
owner be fined heavilly in the one thousand $ area. Finally, the hotel chain made to post a clear warning at check in desk and the hotel to be fined 10X the fine of... the
pet? owner.Yes a death could have ocurred. What irresponsibility and recklessness!

WHERE IN THE WORLD WAS THE SNAKE WHEN HE WAS CHECKING IN THAT IT WASN'T SEEN BY THE STAFF....HE HAD TO HAVE IT IN SOME KIND OF CARRIER WITH AIR HOLES ....PERSONALLY : HE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A MUCH STIFFER FINE....I UNDERSTOOD ALL PETS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE AT LEAST ON A LEASH OR IN A CARRIER ....

I happen to like snakes and would have gotten my camera out to take pictures of him. But, everything in its place. This wasn't fair to regular people, some of whom may have harmed him out of revulsion, because not everyone appreciates interesting animals.

I am so sick of animals being more important than people these days. I heard someone saying the other day that they lie about their dog being a mix when it is actually a pitbull to move into an apartment complex. There are reasons for rules. People shoud be able to be free from dangerous animals. If people love those kinds of exotic and/or dangerous animals why not create a city where they can all go and live. Also for those people with the long leashes who let their animals walk up close to people/kids because they think it's cute, it's rude and not fair to people who don't know if your dog bites. If a dog even lunges at one of my kids my first instinct is to physically do whatever I have to do to keep it away. We are all entitled to our personal space. I mean imagine if a stranger on the street walked up and tried to sniff or jump on your leg? Yeah... probably wouldn't like that too much. And if a hotel has a no pet policy .. why is it fair for people to sneak their animals in? They have that rule for damage control, allergen control and safety of their staff. Why should I have to get animal hair all over me when I choose a pet free hotel? $65.00 is a slap in the face for those who go by the rules.

What good is a vacation if you have to carry animals with you? I dont want to have to worry about anything, and have a good time.

We humans should realize that we aren't superior beings. Animals were here billions of years before humans evolved by chance. Remember we're animals too. And I don't want to hear any bulls*** from the mentally ill religious whacko's who oppose evolution. Science conquers religion; always had, and always will. P.S. I hope that the beautiful python enjoyed it's little excursion in the motels' corridor.
