Griffin USB mini cable kit - solves the dilemma of tangled cables

Griffin Technology (who were featured here yesterday with another of their new products) just managed to solve the problem of the ever-tangled device cable. Their new USB Mini cable kit consists of three very short USB cables - one for the iPod/iPhone, one with MiniUSB and one with MicroUSB.
With a single $24.95 product, they have solved the constant annoyance of tangled cables. Yes - the purchase price does seem on the high end, but convenience like this never comes cheap.
The cable set is available right now - directly from the Griffin web site. If you currently travel with an assortment of cables, this may be one of those "must have" road warrior solutions.

Seems like a poor and expensive solution. There is a purpose to longer cables. Not everybody is using a laptop on a flat surface, which is about the only situation that makes sense. Just go on ebay and order some retractable USB cables, at their shortest point they are the same length as these. The specific three here will cost you all of $10 total and have the flexibility to be extended and set on a laptop keyboard when moving or even extended from a desktop sitting on the floor to a tabletop.

Personally I dislike retractable cables - I find them unreliable and in most cases, the connectors are of very poor quality - certainly not something I'd trust using on $1500 of phones. My experience with Griffin products is that their connectors are great quality, and something I'd trust with my devices.
