Top ten best airlines revealed in 2010 World Airline Awards
Spoiler alert: U.S. based airlines apparently all suck. At least, if you believe the results of the Skytrax 2010 World Airline Awards. The top ten airlines in the world are mostly from Asia. The only upside for U.S. based airlines is that no European airlines made it to the list either. American airlines are only represented in the "best North American Airlines" results - and even there, Air Canada takes the top spot.
The results are hardly surprising - I've flown many of these international airlines, and their product is indeed miles ahead of anything on offer in the U.S. or Europe. Still, it is a bit of a disgrace that none of the U.S. based airlines managed to make any of the winning categories. The top ten airlines of the world are:
- Asiana Airlines
- Singapore Airlines
- Qatar Airways
- Cathay Pacific
- Air New Zealand
- Etihad Airways
- Qantas Airways
- Emirates
- Thai Airways
- Malaysia Airlines

I agree that the US airline industry is lacking. I have been traveling for 20 years in the US and Canada and in the last 2 years I have been going to Europe and the Middle East. Let me tell you I fly economy and it is like First Class in the North America. You get all of the attention you need with all of the extras for free. I know its included in the price of the fare but I am getting very tired of the US carriers complaining about every thing they can on TV or in the news to help with the bottom line.
Why not give people what they want? Good service with all of the items in the price of the ticket and quit whinning about your profits in the news. If you can't make it then do something else.

RACIST Air New Zealand should not be on the list
IGNORANT crew members from Malyasia Air must not be on the list... horrific service and
Emirates Airlines ... is a DISGRACE!!!
Who is putting the data together?
The Top four (4) are correct... however, where is Eva Air from Taiwan? Oman Air? Both of these airlines are superior in service.
People do NOT fly Air New Zealand, don't even waste your time going to that country... it is a HUGE let down!!!

I agree that OZ is the best carrier.. They go out of their way to be courteous and helpful. The rest? SQ? Never had a good experience with them and I live in Asia and have flown with them many times. CX ?..yuk! Was on the aisle and the attendants never stopped bumping me, never once appologizing either. On top of that HKG? its like a 3 ring circus. Try to get help there. The chinese "rudeness"/bluntness and lack of manners really bothers me. TG (my mileage carrier) is really bad too. The crew treat the other SE Asians really bad. I fly them all the time and I have had to defend third world non-english speaking people on various occassions. Muslim meal etc.etc. They are darn right abusive of them. KE is the worst in Asia. I wouldnt send my worst enemy on Korean. They totally suck and JAL is not much better as they hate the Korean's and on a flt. from Japan to Korea ( my weekend escape destination) it makes you feel darnright uncomfortable to witness. But Asian carriers, regardless of the language barrier are a gazillion times better than US and European carriers. Surprised too that nobody mentioned TAM ( new Brasilian carrier) it was superb from Check-in in NY to food and crew. Domestic was a little taxing though.
