Disney World previews its Main Street Electrical Parade for travel convention guests

Walt Disney World previewed its Main Street Electrical Parade on Sunday night for a few thousand international travel buyers visiting Orlando to attend the U.S. Travel Association's international Pow Wow convention. The parade, last seen at the Magic Kingdom from 1999-2001, returns to Walt Disney World June 6 through Aug. 14, with a new Tinkerbell float in the lead.
The beloved (and classic Disneyland) parade has returned to Florida as part of Walt Disney World's Summer Nightastic! events, which also include:
- A new Magic Kingdom fireworks show that promises special effects
- New lighting effects and a new drop sequence on the Tower of Terror ride
- The "Sounds Like Summer" concert series at EPCOT
- Extended hours at Animal Kingdom
The private event was the opening party for the International Pow Wow, an annual event where U.S. destinations gather to meet with travel buyers from around the globe.

A great story would be one on how all hotels in orlando including the low cost no ammenities are charging resort fees now...even motel 6, These hotels are NOT resorts nor do they offer any resort luxeries but are allowed to charge resorts fees. ORLANDO YOU NEED TO ANSWER TO PEOPLE ON THIS ONE.

Hey Orlando? Try telling that to we that live close to the Tragic Kingdom. If you haven't noticed or just don't know, Disney does not pay for crap around here. The only thing they offer is low paying mininum wage jobs. Ya, Disney will put in a road, then we have to pay to maintain it, they used to have there own fire departments and security, now they have county services and they pay no taxes at all to anyone but they do collect sales tax in which they keep 2% of that. Don't want to pay DON"T COME. Frankly, we that were here before the mouse would love for all of you out of staters can go the hell home and stay there. But no, you will continue to pay, $150.00 plus a night for a room, $85.00 to get into a crowded park where if your lucky you might get on 3 or 4 things after standing in line for an hour or two and then $15.00 to park your car in a parking lot that has long been paid for. Suckers still come by the millions, so if you don't like it stay HOME.

Everybody dreams of being able to take the family to see such awesome events......... Too bad for alot of Us it will Never happen because of Disneys Prices and outside area prices....... How sad..... Imagine what it cost to even put a show like this on....... and most of us cannot even pay our electric bills.. Not whinning truly.. It Just disgusts me......I think Walt would be so angry about what has happened to His dream.......

Sounds like whining to me. Not everyone can afford everything. I cannot go there every year but I saved and saved and have been there once. Thats why it is called a vacation and not part of your everyday life.

I do believe that Disney World is high-priced. I wish that is wasn't, but think of the expenses Disney has to pay off every day. And with many people cutting vacations to save money, I can see it being a problem for them. I love Disney World and feel Walt would be proud of his creation.

What do you mean that the electrical parade was first seen in 1999. I took my nephew to Disney World in 1979 and we sat on the curb for hours every evening waiting for it to begin. It was a beautiful sight to behold. I'm glad to see it back. Yes, it is an expensive vacation but what place is cheap these days? At least you get something for your money which is more than you can say for other places

People--- rent an rv or go tent it there are places to go which is a lot
CHEAPER than motels/hotels around Disney World

Actually there are tons of hotels around Orlando and Kissimmee offering great deals just to keep their doors open. You can stay at Disney for 79 dollars a night or in Kissimmee for as low as 39. Never a better time to go.

I saw the Electrial Parade at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World in the summer of 1977. Your dates are wrong regarding when this parade first premiered.

I think this is great news!!! We loved the parade, but are they going to have the same music?? I sure hope so!

So who said everyone should be able to afford it? Its an attraction for a fee. Stop belly-aching. If you cant afford it, dont go! The article is about the return of the electrical parade. I, for one, enjoyed this particular park attraction and plan to go see it again during its limited performances. I'm grateful that this article brought the attractions return to my attention.

You are very nieve. Walt would not even go to Disney World. He would be detested. They are greedy money making machine and that is it. I was at the Magic Kingdom on opening day and I am there everytime some sucker in my family comes on vacation, at least 3 times a year and every single time the prices are higher and the service, magic and experience is less. Disney only has a vision of taking your money that is it. Last year they boosted have 17,000,000 visitor, just think what they made on parking @ $14.00 a car, by the way they have'nt repaved the lots in over 10 years. How about $8.00 for a turkey leg, do you know how many whole sale turkey legs you can buy for $8.00, by the way its 8 at my supplier. Walt would clean house if he were to come back from the dead. His vision was a low cost place where families could have clean, safe and affordable fun, not have to save for 5 years to spend one week at Disney World. Travel world has posted that it costs a family of 4, $5000.00 for one week in Orlando about the same as it costs to go to Europe for a week.

Our family of 11 went to Disney world last year. We spent around $11,000. for the entire family for all the parks and the two water parks and stayed at a moderate resort. It was a great time. The price included air fare for all of us from Indy. We also enjoyed free dining. We had not been there since our sons were young and so going with their spouses and family was incredible. We felt we got a lot for the money. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

Kathy, thank you for your donation we will be glad to suck your family dry of 11 grand anytime.

In response to a few different comments:
To everyone complaining about the article's dates being wrong, it says the parade was LAST seen in 1999-2001--it says nothing about when it was FIRST seen at the parks.
To everyone complaining about price: A one day (pre-tax) ticket to a Disney park is $79. That's pretty similar in price to most other amusement parks. When you add in the cleanliness and courtesy displayed at Disney Parks, I'd still happily spend a bit more money to have a good experience. The hotels have a range of prices to meet most people's needs. If you want a room that's hundreds a night, stay at the Contemporary or Grand Floridian. If you want something less, stay at a value resort. I was recently looking at the room prices at a Holiday Inn in a pretty unknown Mideast beach town and they were ranging from 175-225 a night--which is much more than you'd pay for some Disney hotels
