Daily Pampering: Exploring your destination from the back porch of your private jet

ABJ Explorer jets, created by BAE Systems and UK design consultancy Design Q, is giving travelers a new way to indulge in their destination without having to leave the plane. The jets now feature an "air deck" viewing platform in the back of the plane (otherwise known to the middle class as the back porch).
Once the plane is on the ground, a side door opens up to reveal a platform that extends out to create an indoor-outdoor space (you can hang in the plane, or can you chill on the porch). Step out onto the deck at your destination, sip a few cocktails, have a few snacks and take in the sights. It's the backyard barbecue for the obscenely wealthy.
ABJ says the plane is designed for "the high worth individual who wants the freedom to travel and explore remote locations in a stylish and comfortable way."
No word on what this private jet will cost, but I'd be willing to bet it's something worth saving for. The luxury jetsetting lifestyle just got a little more glamorous.

Wow... I just realized that I complained about this same issue a few weeks ago, except the other way around. I found a Gadling article that was done again on Luxist a few days later. Now I feel like a bit of a douche... If only there was a way to delete my post.
Sorry Melanie.

Actually, Scott Carmichael covered the same topic here at Gadling on May 4th:

yeah, i'm sure this will catch on.... i guess they dont realize that if you've seen one airport, you've pretty much seen 'em all
there could be one benefit however, lets rent one for nancy pelosi and rig the "back porch" to deploy in flight, cause of the crash? "drunken democrat opened back door in flight"

Hi Matt,
Both blogs publish 100's of articles each month, and the luxury travel market is relatively small, so there is always the risk of some overlap.
That said - one or two duplicate articles each month does not make for a huge problem - not everyone reads both blogs.
Thanks for the comments - we do always love hearing from readers - complaints or compliments :) Oh, and like the previous commenter said, this article had indeed been posted before here, so I guess we were "first" with it, but it was considered interesting enough to mention again in Daily Pampering.

Thanks for the response, Scott. I felt like an ass right after I wrote it :P. As someone who reads both Luxist and Gadling daily, sometimes I can't help feel a tinge of annoyance at the overlap. However, I'm definitely conscious (and appreciative!) of the volume of articles that you guys put out, and the fact that the mandate of each blog (luxury and travel) will sometimes coincide. Thanks for all the hard work you guys put it :)
