Ocean beaches are nice if you have fresh water to rinse off the salt when you are done. To avoid that try Presque Isle State Park in Erie, PA. It is a seven mile peninsula into Lake Erie with great swimming and prize winning sunsets. During the summer it is hard to beat. It has a first class free entry amusement park and a campground at its neck in addition to the bike & woodsey trails plus world class salmon and trout fishing. Did I mentiion that entry and the plentiful parking are free.
