I have lived in Maine most of my life and I love going to Old Orchard Beach. In addition to swimming in the ocean, there is also a lot to do there. It's a wonderful place to go if you have small children. They can enjoy the beach and then enjoy the rides and arcades. For adults, there are night clubs to visit after your day on the beach. There are also many other nice beaches nearby, such as Pine Point, Crescent Beach State Park, and Higgins Beach.
As for the person mentioning that there is no town named Acadia, you are correct. But, if you read the article more carefully, you will see that the author drew a line through the word Acadia and wrote Bar Harbor next to it.
If you enjoy beaches, come to Maine and follow Route 1. It will take you past many lovely beaches that dot the hundreds of miles of the Maine coast.
