We have been to most of the beaches mentioned in Hawaii. K and Hula, you can always google the beach name and it will tell you what island. for example Poipu Beach , one of our favorites, is on Kauai. It has incredible snorkeling, just knee deep in water, so you feel safe, even for small kids. Great swimming area and you even get to see an occasional green sea turtle, dolphins, and hawaiian monk seals on the beach resting. Awesome beaches in Hawaii. I think if you want exceptional beauty, but not recommended swim beach, go to north shore of Kauai to Lumahai Beach. Kauai's beaches are like no other. You simply cannot compare to beaches like in San diego, dirty looking.

I have to agree with Kim. I have been to all the Hawaiin islands and Poipu beach is my favorite for swimming. Though Maui is great for whale watching. They swim so close to shore that it stops traffic.
