I live in Houston which is near Galveston. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT ever go to Galveston for its beaches. They are the most disgusting I have ever seen...

I agree Galveston is gross!!! Would not recommend going there at all. Can't believe that it was mentioned at all when there are soooo many other beaches in the US that are way better!!! Myrtle Beach, Garden City, in South Carolina was a lot of fun.

I live on Galveston Island and I have to agree with you. The beach goers just throw trash everywhere, broken bottles, you name it. Since Hurricane Ike nothing has really been done to keep things clean. Best thing to do is head down the coast towards Corpus Christi.
