It's kinda rude to say a beach is in Hawaii without mentioning which island. Everybody will go to Oahu and think you're nuts.

Was thinking the same thing.....Not mentioning which island the beach is on is kind of pointless. Especially when there are many places, on different islands, with the same name. That'd be like saying "it's in Waimea, or Kailua" without specifying further....not too helpful!

People on Oahu won't think you're nuts since Hale'iwa Beach IS on Oahu. If you go, make sure you stop and buy a shave ice at Matsumoto's.
And let's not be picky about finding beaches. You obviously own a computer and know how to 'Google' a place. Cut the authors a little slack. they're suggesting beaches, not giving directions to outer space.
