It's a few hours, unless they cancel your flight and you're stranded overnight, or maybe there is an alternative flight you could take, but, oops, you checked your bags and now the airline won't let you change the flight. I have managed to reduce packing to a caarry on and a large purse becaue of lost bags, missed connections, cancelled flights, and all the other reasons referred to in the article. i would seriously consider shipping to a UPS office rather than checking a bag. I have sent items that wouldn't firt in a bag from my local UPS to one in the city to which I'm going with good results.
