Road Trip Tips: make lodging part of the journey, not just a place to stay

My trips are always more enjoyable when I can find a special and unique place to stay. I made a spontaneous road trip starting in Dallas heading to San Antonio and little spots in between. I came upon a cool little town, named Wimberley, and drove around exploring and came upon some cottages that are rented by the day or longer.I liked the setting and decided to stay one night. I ended up staying 2 nights. If you ever have a chance, check out Wimberley and the cool cottages where I stayed. They are called Cypress Creek Cottages and their website is www.cypresscreekcottages.com. The next time I go, I will take my dog since I found out they are pet friendly. They even have a small dog park on the property.

Jennifer - I would echo your comments. Cypress Creek Cottages http://www.cypresscreekcottages.org is a terrific place to stay when visiting Wimberley. It is one of the few places where you are conveniently located to the Wimberley Town square and yet can be directly on the Cypress Creek. The property has been upgraded and offers tremendous value for those seeking modern conveniences - i.e. free WiFi, private hot tub, flat screen TVs, DVD player, etc. Anyone interested can also check out their feedback on Tripadvisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g56901-d642703-Reviews-Cypress_Creek_Cottages-Wimberley_Texas.html)
