This article hits home, literally for me. My older brother almost lost his life due to this illness several months ago. He's an active individual who takes very good care of himself. Eats organic. Uses very few chemicals on/in his body, so when I got the call that he was in the hospital, I was shocked. He had taken a ski trip to Colorado for a week. Upon returning home after his flight, he complained about a sore calf, thinking it was related to his skiing daily. When the pain became persistent, he went to his doctor. Upon examination, the Doctor found a EIGHT INCH LONG blood clot in his leg. Immediately, admitted him to the hospital and put him on medication to reduce the clot.
Serious business. Get UP, move around the plane. Take a trip to the lavatory, just to circulate the blood.
I've wondered about this condition and Pilots. I'm confused more Pilots dont get this condition more. They're confined to the cockpit most of the flight. They sit for long periods of time and many dont take care of themselves, physically.
Any Pilots out there wanna comment? Thanks!
