Went to Bethlehem two weeks ago (on Epiphany) after reading this page. #7 is wrong: as previous commenter points out, everyone in Bethlehem uses shekels. On getting there: take the #21 (Arab) bus from East Jerusalem (bus station near the Damascus gate); from there it's a 15-minute walk to the Church of the Nativity. Alternatively, you will probably be approached by taxi drivers offering to take you there or to give you a tour. You may want to negotiate a bit, but it's worth having one of these guys take you to see the Separation Wall, and Herodion (I agree, skip Shepherd's Field), and then he can drop you off near Manger Square (where the church is). We paid our driver about $30/hour. I'm sure it was far more than the going rate, but he was a great guide and it made us feel safe and comfortable for our first visit to the West Bank.
