I've been to Louisville only once (for the Lebowski Fest) but the short time that I was there and drove down to bourbon country, it was quite enjoyable. And very lovely.
I also recommend hitting both Jim Beam and Makers Mark. I liked the older parts of the city with the restored turn of the century homes. I cried at how reasonable they are comparable to the same house here in San Diego..
We flew into Nashville, stayed there a couple nights, they drove to Louisville and flew home from there. Nice trip. BTW, anyone making that trek, be sure to stop at Jimmy D's BBQ in Bowling Green, KY. That is some tasty pork.
