Poll: Is your GPS male or female?
I've been in plenty of cars on several continents that had GPS units. I've heard robotic male Aussies instruct me through a roundabout and seductive French women tell me to U-turn in 300 meters. And for giggles, I've set the devices to Chinese, Portuguese and several other languages that I do not speak or understand simply to hear them come out of a tiny box mounted on my windshield. But, at the end of the day, I need to hear my directions in English and I like to hear them dictated in a woman's voice (particularly one with a sensual British accent). I'm not sure what that says about me, but it's the truth. What about you? Do you set your GPS to a male or female voice? Vote in our poll and explain your preference in the comments below.

Mine is male, with a British accent. Very hot. For some reason I find the women's voices very annoying. Is that sexist?

When I set my GPS to female, all it tells me is to pull over and ask for directions.

Haha! You said it, not me!

I grew up watching "Star Trek", so all computers must talk with female voices.

Apparently Bob Dylan aspires to be a GPS voice: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/25/bob-dylan-to-voice-gps-sy_n_268426.html. I would honestly consider buying a GPS unit for my car if Bob Dylan would pipe up every time I needed to make a u-turn.

My current GPS only has one option, and that is a female voice. But I'd still choose the female voice over a male one, on most of the others I have heard the female voice sounds clearer to me than the male ones.

Mine is also female only, and she can be pretty annoying after repeated "calculating routes" and "when possible, make a legal u-turn." I think having a voice (male or female) in an Australian accent could be fun. Turning around could become a much more adventurous task.

Hey.. I thought you would have a two-parter poll here... q1 - are you male/female q2 - do you prefer a male/female voice on your GPS. would've been interesting to see how much of a correlation there is, 'coz in my experience most gals prefer a male voice, and most guys prefer a gal's voice on their GPS..
