But your list is of course accurate. One thing about the seating - much of it stems from concerns that people will sprawl out over 4-5 seats and just sleep. At a place like O'Hare 20 years ago, this was a legitimate concern because the homeless could get to the gate areas without a ticket or even a security screening. But now, it's just laziness.
Southwest has done a very good job in the last eighteen months providing gate seating which is actually functional and comfortable. They haven't provided enough of it, but I've spent three hours sitting at Manchester (NH) airport and the improved seating made a ridiculously huge difference.
