Speed date on a roller coaster through September

Relationships are full of ups and downs -- and so is traveling, so how's this for a novel way to start a new one: a UK theme park has launched the world's fastest speed dating event on a roller coaster. Aside from being a new way "to get your heart racing," it's actually drawing a growing number of adults to its theme park.

In a bid to boost numbers, attractions are being forced to come up with clever ways to draw visitors. That's how Alton Towers in Staffordshire decided to capitalize on the notion that sex sells. While riders may not look their best hurtling around corners at 100 miles an hour, adrenaline junkies may well find their perfect match sitting right next to them.

The UK theme park introduced special 'singles' queue lines to many of its big roller coaster rides including Rita - Queen of Speed and Spinball Whizzer. This rather cringe-worthy idea means that singles (who must be over 18) get paired up to ride the coasters and hopefully love will then blossom from there. And it had better blossom fast! The pair will have a mere 49 seconds to impress one another before the ride ends.

The fastest date in the world is taking place until the end of September, so if you're single in Staffordshire or just passing through and seeking a thrill with the potential of meeting your soulmate, you could head to Alton Towers. You can find more information about the theme park and its speed dating service or book tickets in advance by visiting the Alton Towers website.
