5000 year old navigation system discovered
According to this story from the Daily Mail, the 5000 year old "sat nav" system used stone monuments, often erected atop high hills, to point the way to similar points, sometimes as far as 100 miles away. This intricate network of stone monoliths, which includes Stonehenge, created a system that would allow ancient travelers to navigate across long distances with an accuracy of within 100 meters.
British Historian Tom Brooks used modern GPS systems to examine more than 1500 historical sites, and his findings were astounding. Each of the sites was connected to one another by vast geometric grid made of of isosceles triangles, in which each triangle has two sides of the same length, and pointed to the next settlement, thus allowing for simple and effective navigation across the landscape.
If Brook's assertion that the system was created over 5000 years ago is correct, the use of geometry predates that of the Greeks, who were thought to have discovered that branch of mathematics. He also claims that it is the "world's biggest civil engineering project" as well.
The implications of this theory are very interesting, and it does help to explain what the purpose of sites such as Stonehenge were used for, although their method of construction still remains a mystery. This is a fascinating story of how prehistoric man may have found their way across long distances.

Further proof that the earth is a "seeded" planet and man's early development was aided by aliens. No way does the human race, just out of caves, develop such advanced knowledge.

Not to belabor the obvious, but the diagram describes a Fibonacci spiral otherwise know as the Golden Section. Seems there is more here to be uncovered.

Whatever you do, don't let the anti-science lobby see this-- they will lump it in with the space program as money wasted that could better be used for their pet projects.

I love reading this sort of stuff, our fore father's had to have SOME smarts, they did populate all of Europe AND then navigated the oceans. We're talk vast areas of land and water, and they managed to know where they were going. They were very engenious to figure this out with the crud tools that they had then.

What twoddle! Back that far folks could only count up to as much as on their fingers and toes, after that is was called "many", so it's a mighty big hyperjump for "cavemen" to do geometry to figure out where "London" is in relation to "Avebury"! If "Joe Caveman" could do that sort of maths how come it took umpteen thousand years before we got decent maps? :-))
Methinks this is more evidence of wooly headed scientists growing up with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings than Pythagorus and Issac Newton

What nonsense! The ancient inhabitants of the British Isles certainly DID build amazing structures. Check out Newgrange near Dublin, Ireland, and Skara Brae in the Orkneys north of Scotland. They were astronomical observatories of stunning sophistication dating back 5000 years. The ancients could predict solar and lunar eclipses with staggering accuracy

The chart looks startlingly similar to the "facebook" fan ad that follows the article.

If geometry, and therefore mathematics were so far ahead 5000 years ago, what caused us to revert to cave dwelling in the dark ages? Religious dogma and wars? Religious dogma and wars. Just look at the primitive religious groups on this planet, living in dirt, ignorance, squalor and need to kill.

BRI, That is a popular theory, but there is also a theory that believes it is also a depiction of our spiral galaxy that we reside in, as if our ansesters had some how gotten a glimpse of our world from out there somewhere !!!!! ??
