Carnival cruise line bans family for life
You would think that it would take a pretty serious infraction to cause a cruise line operator to ban you for life -- pushing the annoying commerical guy overboard, for example, or dumping soap in the water slide pool. But surely not for getting a few scratches on your dresser. According to one Mr. Chris Harvey who took a cruise docking into Ft. Lauderdale this summer, however, that's what got him and his family the boot. In addition to that, Mr. Harvey claims that the scratches were there long before the cruise says that they existed, suggesting that the staff falsely accused them of causing the damage.
In the end, Harvey signed a document accepting a life time ban from the entire cruise line, the only alternative to coughing up some cash for the damages. You can read about his experience at his website.
Since the ban, however, the plot has thickened. Harvey was able to produce a few photos showing that the dresser was already damaged before the cruise claimed, and now that his story has gained traction on his site, Carnival is reversing the ban.
In the end, the moral of this whole fiasco is to check your room before you move in. Like a rental car, you're liable for any damage during your stay.

My husband and I went on a brief cruise on Carnival to the Bahamas. Everything was fine except our cabin was right next to several cabins utilized by a highschool group on an outing. They were supposed to have chaperones but those never seemed to be doing any Chaperoning. The kids were yelling and running up and down the halls at all hours. They kept their cabin doors open and acted as if it were a college dorm except no dorm would allow all that constant partying. We took an Alaskin cruise on Holland America and everything was 5 star, First Class.

hey susan,
maybe you should reread what i wrote! i agree with all, no adult would do physical damage to a cabin as stated. i just said that perhaps pictures should be taken when entering the cabin, so no such incident will occur! if you know how to read, perhaps you would of understood!!!!

I have been on several Cruises and I go with Royal Caribbean. I have never been charged anything extra and the staff is always there to help in anyway they can. I am very happy with the service and will continue to cruise with them.

My wife and I went on a cruise o carnival, this was our first cruise and we loved it
planning on our second trip, a longer trip. We had one problem though, when they loaded our bags onto the ship, our real nice leather bag was torn up with my wifes clothes in it. When we discovered it was missing we asked about it. they took my wife to help find it, they found it, the bag, in a trash can, then they her clothes back in a garbage bag, after they washed them, now these clothes were brand new, bought for this trip, my wife had all her daily clothes ready to wear, but she had none since they were damaged. They advised us that they tryed to contact us but could'nt, well they have PA systems, but we never heard from them. We had to go they'er store to buy a new bag, which they reembursed us for,but it was not nearly as nice as the one we had., and they gave a little something for ruining her clothes, other than that it was a great trip, and I would go on carnival again. To start our first trip was a nightmare.

I can't think of a vacation I would LEAST like to take. sitting on a ship with a 10000 other people, sleeping on a shoe box, paying out the kaazo for everything. Yep sure beats a horse back ride up Mt Harvard in CO at 14,000' to fish for cut throat trout or a week rental in the Key's anyday.

Took my 1st cruise last year on Carnival ship Elation. Never thought I'd do such a thing (I'm basically a cowboy-type, but my fiancee talked me into it...LOL) Dang, what a good time! Do it again as soon as I can afford it! One tip........when you buy your tickets to get on board, DOUBLE that cost and you won't be surprised at the end of the cruise. Not complainin', got a smokin deal but when it was time to settle up.......it was almost double the price we paid for the tickets (and we don't DRINK!>>>>>>LOL) Food was spectacular, I only gained 2 lbs, (we won't discuss Sweetie's gain here....hehe) Go do it if you got the $!

Another person caught another connection for free advertising on his blog.... He is the owner of travel insurance company............
