Smelly theme park guests told to keep their arms down
UK Theme park Thorpe Park to introduce a new rule called "say no to B.O.". The rule has been put in place because too many smelly guests were stinking up their rides on the hottest days.Any time the temperature reaches 25C (77F) and above, guests must keep their arms down on the rides at all times. Personally, I think that telling guests to take a shower and use deodorant may have been a better (smelling) solution, but obviously not everyone practices basic hygiene.
This is the second time in two weeks that a UK theme park has introduced silly rules - previously, Alton Towers banned Speedos from their premises "to protect the children".
So, what do you think of this new rule? Ever been stuck behind a screaming rollercoaster rider who spread their stinky pit stench to the rear of the ride?
| Perfect - smelly people stink | |

| The park should mind their own business | |
| Doesn't go far enough, smelly people should not be allowed to enter the park! |

You ought to try Walt Disney World when it's 100.

For realz, 77F is nothing.

No kidding. I was at the universal parks this weekend (And I live in florida and often go to Busch Gardens where the heat index makes it 105f and higher) and they're complaining about 77f making smelly guests? Though to be honest I have never smelled anyone at a theme park.

Sitting next to a smoker is the MOST revolting. After showering and leaving a hotel, when you get into an elevator the people who drank too much the night before and the smokers who smoked themselves into a smoked oyster status just REEK!! Doesnt matter how much a smoker bathes he/she has ashtray breath, yellow teeth and then they want to engage you in chat on an airplane. P friggin U!!

Richard- I'm a Floridian and the last place I want to be is Disney World when it's anywhere near 100 degrees! I think the worst smelly places were already listed: elevators and airplanes.

Gee. I saw "say no to BO" and my first thought was Barack Obama. Twasn't him, though.
Oh, BTW, the English aren't noted for their bath taking ability. They can be terrific allies in a war, though.

I live in Europe and there ARE a lot of smelly people. Having spent 3 years in the UK, I can attest to the fact that there is a lot of BO.

because a lot of people over the ocean dont use ANY deoderant/anti-pres. at all or shower as regulary as us in the states(granted we have smelly people too), over here we tend to be intuned with ourselves..not wanting to stink or look bad in public. As for 77...would never be a rule here in the states...most parks are where its hot an muggy, with temps well into the 100's an ya know i have never encountered a smelly person(not by intent anyway)

I agree. Not only the pits, but worst, are bottoms (especially in U.S, where obesity is rampant--those that can not reach their private parts, actually, obese or non-obese). Europeans, please get your bidets to good use. All of us, self-care/hygiene is very basic. It really boils down to values.
Thank you for some places that have erected larger and wider bathrooms/toilets recently.

Socialism tends to do that...

They should do the same on airplane flights. Kick em off!
Jen Aug 20th 2009 9:59AM
The airlines should enact this, as well as, for the people that bathe in perfume. They claim cigarette smoke makes them sick. BO and perfume are just as nauseating.

Its the UK and India Visitors. no shower, no deo, the buy one Florida shirt and wear it during that Vacation and 90 degree's.. Yikes.. Shame on all of you
LT_Prasuhn Aug 20th 2009 6:45AM
Why not 'make' them ride the 'water rides' first (and 'dunk 'em good') before being allowed to rider the others. You know, 'run 'em through 'car wash' fashion...a little 'pre-reinse' before the 'main attraction'. Or do like they do at the public pools...they have to take a shower first 'before entering' (riding). :-) ;-) :-P

Run 'em thru the car wash...............Love it!!!!

This is so funny!

That is the most assinine thing I have ever heard. Europeans need to get over themselves.
catherine Aug 20th 2009 12:41PM
Have you ever visited Rome? the people there really stink and I for one would be delighted if people would take showers and use deo, but too many cultures call for little or no bathing
rachel Aug 20th 2009 8:00AM
you should live in Turkey.... apparently it is some kind of male badge of honor to see who can muster up the worst stink.......
