Drunk on vacation? Don't harass people, or someone will set fire to your penis!
Here is a story that is bound to make you think twice about harassing the locals when you are drunk. When 20 year old Stuart Feltham tried to assault a 26 year old local girl on the Greek island of Crete, she first politely asked him to stop.
Like most people, she was not impressed by a drunk British tourist dropping his pants and waving his genitals around.
Her requests went unanswered, so she poured a glass of Sambuca on him. Even that wasn't enough for this guy to get the message, and when he continued harassing her, she set fire to the alcohol (and his genitals) - causing severe second degree burns.
Mr. Feltham was rushed to a private clinic where he is being treated. Thankfully he was smart enough to pay for travel insurance, and his policy had no exclusions for burned penis.
The British Home Office (like our State Department) is of course embarrassed by the whole thing, especially since they have been campaigning to reduce the number of Brits getting in trouble when they are abroad.
Reveling tourists are such an annoyance to local residents of Crete, that Miss Fanouraki is being called a hero. She's claiming self defense and the local magistrate has already hinted that they'll most likely accept that, and let her off easy.
Lesson learned today: no means no, and when someone pours flammable liquid on your private parts, run to the bathroom for water.

This article is incorrect. The woman only threw a sambuca on him. WHEN HE STUPIDLY LIT up a cigarette, then his shirt caught fire.. The Brit is 'claiming' she set fire to him to try to cover up his lewd and perverted actions!!! Ugly Brit Tourists are as bad as Ugly American Tourists. No country should have to put up with rude and lewd travelers from ANY country. Guy brought it all on himself and his member... awwwwww.

First and foremost, the articles lead in on AOL says ...tourist set on fire in Las Vegas, which if you read the article is incorrect since this happened to a British man visiting Crete. Secondly, I think the big message here is No really does mean No sometimes, and no mattter how "charming" he thought he was, clearly she was Not interested.

The byline on AOL stated tourist set on fire in Greece. Where you got Las Vegas from that, I do not know

I don't believe this. Brits travel the world and are always very knowledgeable about customs. In Greece you can't lay a bag or anything down and take your eyes off it for any time or it will be gone. Also some bars in Athens are known for luring a turist in with a woman and then overcharging him for drinks or drugging and robbing him. Who would bother with a Greek woman? They are the coldest women on the planet!!!!!!!!!!!

Traveler, the ones I've met haven't been cold - more like bad-tempered & crazy.

Brits are the worst tourists I've met in the world (at least those in the 20-30 year old range). They're always getting drunk and causing trouble.

I wonder if he'll have anything to "wag around" in the future? If so, I can't imagine anyone wanting to see it now. LOL

Gotta be careful when you go to Greece...ha...this is funny. There have been many times I wish I had the NERVE to pull something like this girl did. Some guys REALLY DO deserve this after the way they treat women, and we are sick of it, some, like this lady take action.

Wow, I'm Greek, and I had no idea that people are still racist about Greek people. I'm quite shocked.
Whatever. We invented practically everything.

Anybody that has an issue with any other race or culture has obviously hasn't grown spiritually. Every race and culture has good and bad history. I am especially disappointed with the tourist that walk onto anothers home town street and instead of absorbing the atmosphere and appreciate what it brings, exploit it. We all have choices. I live in a tourist community and have enjoyed many a tourist company as much as I have thrown them on the street. I too have seen the penis twirling drunks run through. I too researched the story and found it to be half true. I too am planning a trip to Greece and I plan to buy the first Greek woman I see a drink. ;-) .

To Scott Carmichael, author of the article. Check your information please. The liquor you are talking about is called Ouzo. Sambuca is Italian. Both are flavored with anise and very strong, but they have different names because they are from different countries. Just like there are cookies in the US and biscuits in UK (same thing, different names). Get some culture!
