Ryanair: (don't) smoke if you got 'em!
Ryanair isn't the first carrier to allow "smokeless" cigarettes on their planes. These devices mimic the sensation of puffing, I'm told by a user, with a water vapor that is released. What makes the announcement distinctly "Ryanair" is that the devices are now being sold on its flights.
You can buy a pack of ten of these smokeless wonders for €6. To purchase the equivalent of a pack of cigs, you're looking at $17.
So, it really is just another way for Ryanair to squeeze a few extra bucks out of each passenger, but at least the airline isn't taking something away (like your seat or your pissing privileges.
[Thanks, @brycelongton]

I remember Mad Magazine came up with this idea as a spoof. Who'd have thought it would be made for real?

Hunter--Smoking is not allowed because it bothers other passengers, causes fires and other bad things that drinking does not cause. that;s why.

The "dangerous" chemicals are not being reported at actuall exposure levels. Essentially, it isn't a "Tobacco" product and can not be taxed accordingly. It's about the money. Now, the carcinogens mentioned in the report are found in higher quantities in a single serving of alcohol or pork products. I wonder, how they would stack up against beef jerky? In summary, it's about the money! OSHA has a report the clearly debunks the second hand smoke dangers, but that doesn't keep the populace riled up, and angry at the smokers. In the name of safety, almost anything can be justified!

When is the media gonna get a clue about Ryan Air? They're simply doing this for publicity! AND THEY'RE GETTING IT! next thing they're gonna sell discount seats on the wings, AND YOU'LL PRINT IT!
The media needs to check itself sheeesh

No, you got propaganda from a special interest group that makes it's money by keeping people in fear! I am a smoker and trying to quit, and I know there is a big difference between the e-cig and traditional cigs. ASH is a group of activists and lawyers! What would happen if everyone stopped smoking? Then, ASH couldn't exist. Write back in another 39 years and you will see they still exist, fighting for the cause!

We smokers have to keep smoking for the children who do not have health insurance. That federal program is funded solely by new taxes on cigarettes which the Obama administration instituted immediately after taking office. Wonder who will pay for this program as people quit...... new taxes everyone? But I guess by that time we'll have "sin" taxes on just about everything from soda to hamburgers. It's just an excuse to get more money. Non smokers......be prepared.

Agreed. They tell us the extra money we are now paying to smoke goes to help uninsured children, but they tell us we should stop smoking. What about all the jobs that will be lost if everyone quit smoking?
They are now trying to make it to where any Military person isn't allowed to smoke. Just another step to making it "illegal" or whiping it out all together.
I don't have a problem not smoking on a plane or when going to dinner. I understand that it bothers other people.
It bothers me when going out having to deal with the drunk a$$%! and hearing about a drunk driver killing a family. I wouldn't try to take away someone's right to drink though. I am so sick of people acting like a smoker is the scum of the earth. No tolerance, just selfishness.
Smokers should unite and maybe go a week or so without buying a single tobacco product and let them see how much of their tax money they will miss out on.

I'll take em !
Over 10 hour flight from USA to UK, that would help :)
Ditto on what the other poster said. Everyone down on smokers, yet, drivers STILL on the road with 2 or more DUI's and not stopped until they kill one or more people and wreck whole families in an instance !
Heck, we had a lady here with FIVE Dui's and STILL driving.

I'm reading comments talking about the second hand smoke conspiracy. In other words, there is no danger to being exposed. I haven't read any of the research done on this so I won't address it from that standpoint. But the health risk is only a part of the reason I wouldn't smoke in a room that held even one non smoker. It's the stench. I wouldn't consider exposing anyone else to it.
Regarding the gentleman who thinks that planes should have smoking and non smoking sections.....I remember when they did and it was horrible. I'm a smoker and I hated being enclosed in that small space surrounded by smoke. Smoke travels in the air, it doesn't observe the signs that say "non smoking section". If I, as a smoker was bothered I can just imagine what an ordeal it was for non smokers.

my city is split in two by two countys, richland and lexengton. Richland has banned smokeing in puplic places, Lexington has not .The bingo halls , bars, and resturants in richland has let over half thier workers go because all of us smokers are going where we can smoke. what pisses me off is even though we have a big non smoking room at bingo over half of the smoking section is filled with non smokers and they bring thier kids . Are constatly gripeing about the smoke . I agree that we should get together and have a smoke out, all get arrested and get invited to the white house
