I love that this article highlights affordable places to see in New York. NYC always seems so expensive but this article says that I could find good deals even near there. New York is #1 on my friend's list of best places to visit when traveling!

Another way to stretch your travel dollars in New York City is to take free tours. It is a great way to get to know the city and get insider tips. Many of the Business Improvement Districts (called BIDs) sponsor free tours once a week - find them by googling the name of the area you might be interested in touring. The Times Square tour is on Fridays at 12:00 in front of the Times Square Visitor Center, for example. Or you can take a free podcast walking tour.
