I'll go with your last point! -Forget the "1000 Places To See Before You Die" and just focus on these 890.-
Then you also don't have to buy that calendar to remember which one you still have to see... You'll just check the website.
I haven't seen a World Heritiage Site yet, which wasn't worth to visit!

Completely agree Melvin. Every one of the sites that I've seen have been amazing and well worth the visit.
