Two thoughts: There is an option between the Heathrow Express and the Underground - Heathrow Connect is a cheaper slower stopping service running from T4 into Paddington (free transfer from T5 to T4). Then Bakerloo line a couple of stops to Baker St and walk either into Regents Park for some fresh air, or to Marylebone High Street for some nice more independent shops and some ok places to eat.
