Sears Tower to open glass bottom box at 1300 feet

In July, the Sears Tower Skydeck will open "the ledge", its newest attraction.
The "ledge" is a glass box extending 4.3 feet out over the edge of the 103rd floor, offering an unobstructed view of the city. Up to 5 guests at a time will be able to stand on the inch and a half thick glass.
I have a lot of faith in structural engineers, but I'm just not sure I'd feel entirely comfortable stepping out on this thing? Would you?

CAN INCH AND A HALF GLASS HOLD 5 PEOPLE WITH ROCKS IN THEIR HEADS?

I install glass for a living it is totally safe. I have stood on 1/2 inch glass and felt comfortabale. The glass is tempered laminent which means it is two pieces of hardened safety glass. It won't crack its impossible. The reason they don't want more than five people is so the glass doesn't bow and people respect the fact that it is in fact glass.

That looks awesome!

ya'll are crazy, of course it will be safe. As an engineer , i know that the floor will be designed for a higher loading , say 10+ people. However, to include a factor of safety, only 5 will be let on at any time. So don't worry about overweight people trying to get a look.
