Aiming to visit Cuba before year end. Enjoyed this current personal account.
I don't have anyone in my group who speaks Spanish, how much of a disadvantage will that be? Is English widely spoken...given their history?

hi absolut4,
my apologies for not replying earlier. actually, to tell you the truth, while English is a required subject in school, less than half of the local Cubans actually feel comfortable speaking it. the ability ranges significantly from quite fluent to not a lick. i would suggest a studying a phrase book, which nearly every Cuba travel guide has at the end of the book.
hope this helps!
