Just me, but using a zoom feels pretty impersonal. The longest lens I have is for the studio for macro and effects. My street lenses don't exceed 50mm on an equivalent 35mm camera.

Talking with people and having an effect rather than being an anonymous observer have higher percentages of better photos, in my estimation.
But that's just me.
