Uniform changes, soft drinks wait for Delta and NWA
This week, Northwest employees will get some new threads. Delta has announced that the vanquished will don the mother ship's uniforms this week, calling it "one of the first outwardly visible signs that the two airlines are now one." More important than the employees' new sartorial splendor, free snacks are coming back to all flights! But, one important question remains: Coke or Pepsi? Delta and Coca-Cola, both Atlanta-based, have had a near-marriage for more than 75 years. So, does Delta want some strange, or will it honor its long-term commitment? Northwest currently serves Pepsi products on its flights.
According to a Delta mouthpiece, it could take a while to come to a landing on the "beverage strategy." So, for now: same duds, different suds.

i hate delta, even thought i fly them all the time and have tons of miles with them. i need to make a last minute trip to orlando and i have miles on NWA, and wanted to use my miles for a one way tickets, but i cant because all the flights are "delta" and not "NWA" and only NWA does one way.
ughhhh!!!!!!

I was a reservation agent for Northwest and we never booked one-way tickets using miles, it wasn't allowed.

Interesting - In Sept 08 I flew one way to Phoenix from Cincinnati using Delta frequent flyer miles -

Wow! I'm guessing this means they won't have to change clothes between ending their shift with the S.W.A.T. team and going to their airline jobs!

One can only hope that (for the sake of working conditions and safety) Delta employees are free to choice the IAMAW to represent them as they did at NWA. It is unreal how much "Slave Worker" mentality exists at Delta. Next time you travel through CVG, just ask the CSA, Ramp Service or Ramp Cargo folks. Delta has them dropping like a rock because they operate as if it were 1930. Free Choice for Delta workers, and family medical benefits for all workers.
Good Luck Delta workers!

Who cares about Coke or Pepsi. How about getting rid of the BAG CHARGE.

It doesn't matter what they wear or which beverage they serve: Delta is still the ABSOLUTE WORST airline I have ever flown. And I am convinced that when people "go to Hell," they end up at Hartsfield-Atlanta airport!

No Beth, hell is the Delta terminal at Kennedy. It's the black hole of air travel. Once you enter you cannot leave. Ever! The scene is hundreds of stranded passengers (everyday), not enough seats, blaring loudspeakers (sometimes 2 at a time) and not enough restaurants to serve the hungry, angry, tired, fed-up passengers. Beware! ;)

I live in Knoxville, TN. We travel to England twice a year.
Delta holds Knoxville hostage.
We lost our Delta miles because we didn't use them in a certain period.
We switched to Northwest. They promise to refund a difference on air fares if you book and they issue a cheaper fare. I tried that last year. They charged $250.00 EACH to give me the lower fare on the two tickets.
When two crappy airlines merge, they just become one great big ole crappy airlines.
We have now switched to US Airways.
Wish us luck. Our first trip is on the 11th.

Unbelievable that this big airline has the money for new uniforms while they charge their customers BIG fees. What happened to the days of free pillows, free meal and drink... instead all of our "pleasantries" are taken away from us as the consumer. Another thing... the airlines have been reporting yearly losses, yet they have the money for new uniforms? Like a prior poster said.. why not get rid of the extra baggage fee.

I just got back from a trip to FL. I flew with ALLEGIANT AIR. It was from NY to Orlando, FL, non stop. $29.00 to and $69.00 back, plus taxes ,luggage, insurance, plus picking out my seats, and $13.00 for bokking on line. $202.00 complete. Great trip. Try that. Last time I went there with US AIR , spent 8 hours in Philliy wating for a plane.
