If I may add something in regards to the turbulence question, another important factor (if not one of the most important factors) would be wing loading. Aircraft like Learjet's and MD-80's with small, narrow wings with little area have a higher wing loading. This allows them to fly better in heavy turbulence. Plus another benefit is that there is less area for the turbulent air to act on or wind gusts. Nice section, Keep it up Kent :)
