A few years back, I had the misfortune of learning that in Denver there is such a thing as "too hot to fly". It was an August day and the CRJ was grounded due to the heat. I thought the gate agents were pulling a prank, but the pilot did tell us that due to the altitude and heat, they couldn't get enough lift off the wings till it cooled down later that evening. Of course, the pilots timed out and they canceled the flight anyway.
