Rapping flight attendant entertains passengers on Southwest
Check out this hilarious flight attendant on Southwest Airlines. Instead of the boring safety briefing most of us have to hear over and over again, David Holmes turns it into a rap song. He even manages to get the passengers to participate.
I've got to say, this is pretty awesome, and just shows the more down to earth attitude you'll find on carriers like Southwest. Have you flown Southwest and had the pleasure of running into David Holmes? If so, let us know in the comments!

Never had him but there was this one older lady on my flight back from Midway to PHX who was just as entertaining. I wish I would've recorded her spiel as it seriously had the whole plane laughing from beginning to end.

this is exactly the kind of stuff that made me decide never to fly SWA ever again a long time ago. I fly to get from a to b, not to hear your lame jokes or other such garbage I don't have to put up with on other carriers. i will happily pay more money NOT to hear this crap

An even better idea? Save your money and keep your un-happy ass and negative attitude at home! Such a shame that some piss-poor, arrogant, lame s.o.b. feels they have to shed such negativity on an uplifting, positive story. Better yet, pay extra money to be shipped as cargo, you'll get the solitude and others won't have to deal with you.

And with that attitude, you my friend are exactly the kind of passenger that suck the life out of us when we are working an 18 hr day with minimum rest and no time to run up the jetbridge & grab a meal. And no, I didn't work for Southwest... I worked for the carrier that you pay extra money to fly on. What I saw in BOTH of those videos (the news clip AND the youtube clip) were passengers actually paying attention for once, which in the end, will save their lives and our sanity.

golielax.... you are a real "buzz kill" or "kill joy", depending on your age. That rap was awesome and would make any normal person smile. Anyone who wouldn't smile at that is... not normal and may possibly have a "reindeer antler lodged in their posterior". Get happy!!! or... stay off all planes.

You're no fun.LOL.I see what you mean, but flying is NOT the pleasant experience it used to be-and that was the case BEFORE 911.He's trying to make the best of a bad situation, and good for him.Our Southwest flight attendant told jokes prior to the flight. They're a good carrier, and I'd fly them again.

Personally, I find it refreshing to have flight attendants with such a great personality. I have always enjoyed flying Southwest, and do so whenever possible. The flight attendants seem to be so much more high energy than most airlines. They take their job seriously, but have fun while doing it. Kudo's to all the F/A's on Southwest who make flying a bit more fun than those with "stuffy" attendants.

Where is THEIR calendar, lol....

because there are alot of people like goalielax out there we can't have fun on the planes anymore. people are always looking for a reason to be offended. i remember the old days when my airline encouraged us to behave this way. we had fun and so did the passengers. after awhile people became too sensitive or used our silliness to get us fired. you complain about the sour look on our faces, but we didn't have a choice the fun was taken from us. if you seem easy going and nice you will find that flight attendants are actually fun people. we where hired because we like people and enjoy talking. bring back the old days where we could be fun.

This was sent directly to the FAA:Dear Sirs: With re to the outrageous and unacceptable Southwest Airlines "rapping" flight attendant, this behavior must be stopped forthwith. Since when is a safety briefing supposed to be cute or entertaining? Show me where in the FARS where it states this behavior is acceptable or professional. It certainly does not instill great confidence in the traveling public when a mandatory safety briefing turns into nonsensical jargon which sends the wrong message. I don't accept "rap" as an FAA mandated safety briefing, thus making the briefing null and void. Allowing this behavior will only obfuscate the true purpose of the safety briefing and further prevaricate it. If Southwest has an accident, and the black box is recovered and examined; the burden of proof lies on The FAA and Southwest, and the PIC, who is the final authority as to the safe operation of that aircraft. What is aviation coming to?! Since the FAA is the governing authority; how can they allow an airline to propagate a "safety" briefing at the expense of real safety, because a crew member takes it upon himself to be entertaining?? Has aviation become a circus?? If an accident were to happen, the burden of proof lies with The FAA, Southwest, and the PIC for allowing this non-professional "safety" briefing. I expect a reply to this charade which the traveling public never asked for nor is stated in the FARS. Sincerely:Neil V. O'Connell

It's not about being cute or funny, it's about getting people to pay attention to something they hear every day. This guy did an excellent job. I bet that more people learned the safety procedures from this performance than just about any other way.
Southwest does a better job than most any other airline in the industry at keeping passengers happy. And safe. And keeping a few extra bucks in their wallets.
There are a couple people on every flight that just don't like it. The whole standing-in-line thing, the good moods and jovial attitude of just about every employee as they actually HELP you on to the plane. It's about efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. Kudos to Southwest for doing a better job.

Neil V. O Connell stands for everything that is WRONG in the world today. Selfish self-centered petty immature mean critical. Man, you are scary with your nitpicking whining complaining tittle-tattle. A pox take you!

Neil V. O'Connell should loosen his tie......looks like it's a bit too tight! Get a life, Neil!
emodias Mar 16th 2009 4:00PM
Neil V. O Connell, you're ridiculous. This must stop "forthwith"?? Your diction is awkward, forced, and redundant. ("Null" and "void" are the same thing.) It's as if you read some article about how to best write like a pretentious asshole and the took it to heart, deciding "hey, why not give it a shot?" That the safety standards were briefed to the passengers is what is most necessary-- to criticize SWA on the way one flight attendant chose to deliver this brief to them is unnecessary. Grab a lemonade, sit down, cool off.

Never been on a flight with this guy, but I was on a Southwest flight where the flight attendant invited us to use the convenient patio on the wings if we felt like smoking. And since we would be flying over numerous lakes, ponds and pools(Chicago to El Paso) our seat cushions could be used as flotation devices.
Sherree Mar 16th 2009 8:15PM
To the people who don't find the rap to be entertaining...I feel sorry for you! Get a life. On a recent Southwest flight from Orlando to Indy for my daughter's wedding, the flight attendant was hysterical. At one point she said "if you need assistance, please locate a uniformed flight attendant, as the naked ones tend to be unreliable." One of the attendants on our flight home was just as funny. A little humor is fine for heavens sake. Most people these days completely ignore the safety instructions, if a cute rap or a silly joke gets peoples attention, then that is a good thing! Anyone who finds this offensive must have their panties in a huge wad, GEESH!

Virgin America has some pretty fun flight attendants too!

Actually, maybe Neil's tie could be a little tighter...
