The second photo is actually mine, an elementary school in Teustepe, about 70 miles or so northeast of Managua, shot in 1990. That was my first of five visits there in the 1990s. Not a day goes by that I don't think about those trips.
Suggestion: If you're there long enough, head to Lake Nicaragua. Ometepe is a wonderful island. And the Solentiname archipelago is even nicer.
And another suggestion: the term 'third world' really is passe. Use 'developing' instead.
