CNN has the wrong idea about what they're serving on Northwest Airlines flights
Oh, Zain Verjee. It's not your fault. We all make mistakes. Even sometimes twice in one report.
It doesn't help that the headline at the bottom there says "Nuts On Northwest Flights." Not those kind of nuts, CNN!
Transcript:
"Well, peanuts are now on Northwest Airlines' snack menu, and travelers with allergies are flooding the carrier with complaints about the change. Northwest began serving penis -- peanuts this month as its merger partner, Atlanta based Delta Airlines has done for years. Georgia is the top penis -- pre -- pre -- peanut-producing state in the country ..."
We know. This is shameless. It's an honest mistake ... but this is what the internet is for. Otherwise, you might have seen that on CNN and never known if anyone else did.
This is almost as funny as the time she was choking on Skittles on-air (after the jump).

I can actually almost beat this for embarassment-factor. Shortly after moving to the Midwest, I got a job at a store, and my typical greeting to customers was "Can I help you folks with anything today?" ... a day or two after I started there, my manager pulls me aside and informed me that I needed a new greeting. Apparently, with my accent, it sounded to Midwesterners like I was using a four-letter word that begins with f and only sounds like "folk". Apparently I had been cussing customers out pretty severely for the past 48 hours. Oops...

What IS it these days? Do they have people watching TV just looking for mistakes? I never would have noticed the "slip of the tongue" if they hadn't brought it out, and besides, it's pronounced pe-NIS not pe-NUS, like the lady said. It sounded more like penuts,to me. People need to get their minds out of the gutter, or whatever.

I've heard a lot of news reporters make plenty of mistakes on air. There was even one on MSNBC that couldn't stop coughing one time.
