South African flight crews know how to get high
If you're having trouble staying awake or just like to party, book your next flight on South African Airways. The UK Border Agency arrested 15 SAA crew members – nine men and six women – at Heathrow Airport. Why are they now guests of the Queen? This crew was caught trying to slip 11 lbs of cocaine into the country. The episode is just another example of poor timing. The drugs are estimated to have a street value of ?250,000. If nose candy is pegged to the U.S. dollar, it would have been worth almost twice as much six months ago.
Last month, another 15 SAA crew members were busted at Heathrow for hauling cocaine and cannabis into England. They were a bit more ambitious, with a haul with an estimated value of ?310,000. The outcome, however, was the same. BBC News calls it a separate incident, but it smells like a pattern to me ... and my nasal passages are clean.
The most recent perps were given bail and instructed to return to court on March 23. The only question that remains is how much more cocaine they'll have to "import" to cover their legal fees.

I do take exception to the article. My sister was the senior cabin crew member on the 2nd flight - she's been with SAA since 1980, loves her job, has always given it her best, and has a squeaky clean record. She was merely in the wrong place at the wrong time in the course of her duties. She feels her life's been ruined and we, as a family, are all suffering. Please don't generalise....only a small percentage of cabin crew are criminals. Remember....drug smuggling is an international problem.....this can happen to British Airways or Virgin Atlantic next week.....

vicky-
in no way is racism as bad as it was decades ago. of course you can't sway everyone's opinions, but for you to say "...racism still exists today just as it did back then" is absolutely ludacris. Then to back your argument you start on a rampage about a personal experience you had. Like I said before there is always going to be someone who has racist views, but for you to attack an entire race on personal experiences you've encountered is racist in itself. My boyfriend is of African descent and we are truly appalled by the way you voice YOUR RACIST BELIEFS. Have you ever thought that maybe the people who have mistreated you didn't do it because of your race, but because of your character?? I'm sooo sick of people throwing out the race card just to prove a point. If you truly were as educated as you say you are then you obviously missed the point of those courses which was learning ACCEPTANCE so as to not repeat history.

Dear Vicky, if you like Africa so much I invite you to come live here. Enjoy getting robbed, mugged, hijacked, raped and then murdered.
On another note, I am due to fly SAA from OR tambo to Frankfurt fairly soon. I hope the Crew is not high.

Try as you may, you cannot re-write history. True, a FEW africans did sell other africans into slavery but the MAJORITY of slaves brought to the western hemisphere were outright kidnapped (clandestinely yanked) from their homes by white slave traders. As for your forefathers building this country, let's remember that they virtually exterminated all true-blood native americans and that the economic power and infrastructure of this country was built using african slave labor including the building of the White House and US Capitol.
As for white history month... until recently EVERY month was white history month. Try learning about black history before slavery or native american history before 1492, then talk to me about what you know and what your people did.
