Southwest Airlines spices up a 7-3-7 with a bit of 34-24-35

Southwest Airlines just unveiled their newest flying PR stunt in the sky. One of their 737's has been decorated with a sexy photo of Israeli model Bar Refaeli.
This 23 year old (who by the way is taken, she's dating Leonardo DiCaprio) appears on the cover of this months Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.
Of course, the whole thing is really ironic, since it was Southwest Airlines that attempted to kick a passenger off one of their flights because she was dressed too sexy (she changed into something less provocative and was allowed to stay). Either they changed their minds about what exactly is "too sexy", or they simply forgot about that little incident.

Cute headline. For the record, though, Southwest didn't kick that passenger off the aircraft. If you recall, she traveled on her scheduled flight. She was just asked to cover up or adjust a few things.

Paula - you are absolutely right. Thanks for correcting me!

So, who is this supposed to convince of flying with SouthWest?
Considering the current economic situation - even though this was true before - you fly with SouthWest because it is a cheap flight if they fly to where you want to go..... The End
If you look past the loud mouthed people, most will pick the cheap flight as long as you are not treated horribly just to fly on a plane that will give you a disease.... as it is with American.
I don't see this as anything more than executives wanting to schmooze with the good looking woman. They had to convince her that they were worthy of her attention somehow; and not just sleazy creeps.
It wouldn't even surprise me that SouthWest paid her to have a chance to promote her career.

If I were you, I would correct this story to accurately reflect the facts of the situation. Not everyone is going to read the comments portion of the story.
The passenger in question was not wearing any underwear.. and was simply asked to cover up (A reasonable request, no?). She was allowed to fly to her destination, and pitched a fit about it to the press afterward.

Where's the half naked man? Let's have equal opportunity sexism
MaxErik Feb 15th 2009 11:23AM
I agree .. I too want to see half naked men (better yet, naked) pictured on the Southwest planes !!! .... Would definitely get into that !

What a waste of time and money, pretty girl, but personally I think it's ridiculous.

Degrading to females everywhere. Why would a bikini clad female have to be used to sell tickets? I always travel Southwest but will think twice now b/c I don't support the exposure of women for the sale of anything including airline tickets.

We are going to have a traffic jam of UFOs once the word gets out.
Boz Feb 15th 2009 8:36AM
Why would I want to travel with a picture of a sexy model on the OUTSIDE of the plane, where I can't see it?
Now, on the INSIDE...that might be something else.
Of course, I can remember the bad ol' days when planes weren't staffed by "flight attendants" but "stewardesses" who were chosen as much or more for their looks as any other qualities...
Gone are the days...(sigh!)....

Southwest cheapens their company imgage, by becoming just another company pushin' the ol' "sex sells" thing. Too bad ... I think they're goin the wrong way. We need to stop this kind of crap.
SimplyAmazed Feb 15th 2009 9:26AM
Can you say "I am woman, hear me roar?" It's always wrong to look at them as sexual objects, until THEY decide it's ok to cash in on it. Typical female.

Ok what the heck? I'm absolutely shocked that Southwest did this as an attempt to boost sales. With these kind of pathetic PR stunts It's no wonder God is so upset with America. The entire SI swimsuit issue is a bit too provocative to be billboarded on a family aircraft. Maybe Southwest is trying to reverse the damage caused by the bad publicity last year but all they accomplished was more criticism. This country needs to step back and take a look at the immorality they display and realize that this type behavior will promote nothing but more anarexic young girls and even more raging hormones in young boys. I don't indulge in this type of reading material and absolutely resent Southwest for shoving it my face. If they wanted to do something in a positive direction try posting the faces of the missing children in this country.

Why didn't they put a black woman on the damn plane??? Or at least a picture of Tina Fey.....
Stephanie Feb 15th 2009 10:49AM
Ok...........So now it becomes racial.
Simply amazing how the brain works.
Guess now we will hear the blond thing as well.
Obeyme Feb 19th 2009 3:31PM
Because they aren't good-looking. Bow wow Tina Fey, unknown loser until she defiled Gov Palin with her SNL junk.
RobTheBlogger Feb 15th 2009 10:05AM
This is F*UCKING pathetic. Always trying to use sex or being sexy whenever possible. Loser men with too many things in their hands fall for this crap.

My husband flies for SW so I usually have their back on most issues. As far as this one goes I think it's silly really, who cares what's on the outside of the plane? However, I do think it's a bit telling that the execs at SW can't agree on a contract with their pilots for over 2 years now because "today's economic times are tough for everyone" but they have the money to blow on painting this woman on the side of a plane. I'm just saying..........

so retarded
