Galley Gossip: Lindsay Lohan throws a fit when she's denied a first class seat!

Lindsay Lohan caused "chaos" at the airport in Tampa, Florida on Saturday morning when she was denied a first class seat on an overbooked flight, reports The Huffington Post. Chaos, their word, not mine, is a word that makes me wonder, just what kind of chaos could little old Lindsay create at the airport surrounded by hundreds of passengers?
Do they mean that she stood hovering over the ticket agent until the agent solved her problem, not allowing other passengers to check in? I see passengers do that all the time. Do they mean that she got upset when she didn't get a seat in the cabin she bought a ticket in? Well she spent a lot of money on that ticket! Wouldn't you get upset if you purchased something you did not receieve? Why should Lindsay be judged more harshly than we judge each other just because she's a celebrity?
Trust me when I tell you that quite a few passengers, and I'm talking about the non-celebrity kind, complain about things that are even more ridiculous than not getting the first class seat they bought. A few months ago a passenger threw a fit because he was seated in the last row of coach. I'm sorry, I know it's not a good seat, but SOMEONE has to sit there, maybe even you. I mean why not you? Am I wrong?
Was Lindsay wrong when she stomped her feet and told a friend traveling with her that they better come back to coach and visit her in case she dies?
You do see where I'm going with this, don't you? Passengers can be a bit melodramtic, even celebrity passengers, when they walk on board a flight and things don't go their way. Does that mean we have the right to criticize? I don't know, you decide.
Maybe Lindsay behaved a little childish. Then again, maybe not. Lindsay is a celebrity and people do hound celebrities. A few years ago I had to practically stand between first class and coach the entire flight to keep passengers from bothering Magic Johnson, who, I must say, was one of the nicest passengers (celebrity or not) I've ever met. And last week I saw Toni Collette run through the John F. Kennedy airport holding Sage, her beautiful baby girl. The only reason I recognized her was because of the swarm of paparazzi following fast behind her to the first class check-in counter. Then a few days later I saw Jeff Goldblum placing a backpack on the conveyor belt and walking in striped socks through the security check point at the Los Angeles International Airport. The only reason I noticed him was because of all the flash bulbs going off behind me and passengers pointing their cell phones at him - click click! People have a thing for celebrities. And I'll admit I'm one of them.
Remember that passenger I mentioned above, the one who didn't want to sit in the last row, he also stomped his feet and threw a fit, and then he demanded that I find another passenger to sit in his seat, that I move him up to the front of the aircraft, but only an aisle seat would do! No one was swarming him. In fact, just the opposite was happening aboard that flight.
"But Sir," I said, glancing around the cabin at all the passengers sitting in front of him who were shaking their heads no at me. "The flight is full. I can't make someone sit in your seat just because you don't want to sit there."
"You're a professional, do your job!" he demanded.
Even though we are professionals, there's only so much a flight attendant can do on a full flight. If I have time, meaning I am not busy doing my inflight duties that need to be done before the aircraft can back away from the gate, I will ask people if they're willing to move, but I can not make anyone move. Oh I'll do my best, especially if children are involved, but you can't get picky when it comes to the seat.
Now my question to Linds is why didn't her friend in first class switch seats with her? I bet if she'd arrived to the airport and checked in a little bit earlier, she wouldn't have had this problem. Then again, I wasn't there and I do not know all the details. Who knows what really happened that day?
What I do know is eventually Lindsay was moved up to first class. I'm glad that she got her seat. She paid for it. She deserved it. Anyway, It's not that she doesn't want to sit in coach, or that coach is beneath her, it's just who wants to be surrounded by 200 passengers analyzing her every move, like the Huffington Post did? Like we're doing right now. That's why I'm siding with Lindsay on this one!

Any passenger who pays for first class, should receive what they paid for- a first class seat. My guess is, though, she just made a reservation with her name and expected to be "given" first class because of her celebrity. In that case, no dice.

The airlines want everything there way. Air Tran is actually nice, I enjoy flying them.
Delta, bring your call centers back to US.

Here's what failed to be mentioned by the writer of the article and most people seem to miss from the title of the story. She did not receive her "UPGRADE" yes, an upgrade is when you buy a coach ticket and then are upgraded to first class. Alot of frequent flyers with elite level status do this. In this case the flight was already sold out but the little starlet felt she was too special to sit in coach. That's what makes her tantrum infuriating and why she should be treated with scorn. She told a friend she might "die" if she had to sit in coach. God forbid she be around regular people. In the end though the crackhead got her first class seat. If I had been working the gate she would be sitting in the last row.

A few years ago a friend of mine was flying home from Denver, CO. She told us she sat in her seat in "coach" and eventually a man came and sat down next to her. But she could not figure out why all these kids, adults, everyone was coming up to the man and asking for his autograph, signing anything that they placed in front to him. Remember this was "coach". When the pilot finally announced that all should take their seats that they were ready to take off things pretty much settled down and eventually in the air she politely asked him who he was rather sheepishly. He was Julius Erving -"Dr. J" at that time one of the most well know Philadelphia bastketball players from the 76er's and still well known today. He asked her if she wanted his autograph (but she really didn't know who he was, lol) and said "no". She asked him why he was sitting in coach rather than 1st class? He stated to her that "these people were his fans and they paid his salary to see him play". She told us she had a nice plane ride home and when they landed in Philadelphia he introduced her to his wife and children. He asked her again if she wanted his autograph and she politely said "no". (Her son almost killed her).
Now that was a man that was and is "1st class".
Tell the other BIMBO she is nothing and if she continues to act and live her life the way she does she will be nothing and in "coach"

I've never berated an agent or flight attendant, and basically I
liked Alaska Airlines, but a few delayed flights and one where we
apparently lost our seats and were put in the back row to accommodate
a family from a late connecting flight really upset us... because two
people took over the empty rows in front of us and congratulated
themselves on using the whole three seats, apparently oblivious to
our discomfort. Seems like the airline should have given one of
those rows to us instead of putting us in the back seat, so that was
when we went to Southwest. Lack of thought is not a trait I admire
in people or airlines, and we have not had to put up with it since. As a bonus, we've found Southwest is much better at getting out of Seattle in inclement weather, and just has a lot more hustle and a can do attitude. They also have a sense of humor and remind people when boarding to please remember they're choosing a seat mate, not a marriage partner... lol. And you then find a seat next to someone you choose at the time, not get shoehorned in next to someone you wish you hadn't been seated next to!

i checked in Tara Reid for a JFK/ATH flight, i would have missed who she was until i read her passport i kneeeew she looked familiar but it wasnt clicking. she was so normal. (granted shes a bit of a nut from the media point of view, she was extremely nice this day) she went through security with her friends, waited on line for boarding even though she was first class and could have skipped.
HOWEVER from the business class lounge she did call to complain to the airline that the food wasn't kosher in the lounge.

I don't understand how if you pay for a seat, you don't get it. I don't fly alot, so I would like someone to enlighten me if they have the answer. If it had happened to me, I wouldn't mind flying coach..so long as they gave me the extra money back. I do think it is unfair to have to pay for something extra, then not get it. I think she probably just didn't want people harassing her. I know if a celebrity sat down next to me in coach, I would leave them alone, but if they talked to me I would probably be stammering a bit especially if it is someone I liked.

BC of the way we fawn over celebes I dont blam LL for wnating a more quiet first calss flight were u can relax. if ppl would stop asking 4 autographs, snapping pic and generally fawning all over them while they r trying 2 relzx or get work don on a flight, then MAYBE if i were LL id fly coach. Lets face it, some ppl dont know how to act when they meet someone famous. I believe in respecting privacy and being surrounded by fans on a plane in COACH is not cool. The ppl in 1st class have just as much money if not anonymous fame so they wont be bothering her. They could care less who she is. they've got better things to do. Do u blame her? i dont.
