Michy, I DID drive my car last summer instead of flying and it cost LESS than the round-trip ticket I paid for when I went back again in November. In fact, I stayed overnight during my drive...once each way, and it was STILL less than the "economy" ticket. I don't take any more baggage than what will fit in the overhead bin and under the seat in front of me. The airlines are not going to make a dime off of me for extra luggage. It is amazing what will fit in a small piece of luggage with wheels and a large purse with a lot of pockets. When I drive, I take a cooler and very rarely stop to eat in a restaurant. I RESTATE what I said earlier. The extra charges applied by the airlines are UNFAIR!! Another thing, if you keep your car in good condition and don't drive like a maniac, there is not that much wear and tear on it.
