We were in Orlando on the day of a shuttle launch and had to deal with the question - do we cut a day off (out of 4) of our Disney time and see the launch?
I am sure the launch is amazing, but we decided to pass, which is just as well, since the launch was delayed one day. On day two we were at Epcot and Disney staff pointed us to a lawn (don't remember where) with a view towards the east. We saw the launch from a distance.
For our trip this year its Southern California - http://www.tripcart.com/usa-regions/Southern-California-Coast,Family-Vacation-Ideas.aspx
