Baltimore isn't worth a day trip from DC, let alone a trip on its own.
The Inner Harbor is your standard redeveloped area, chain heavy (Hard Rock and ESPN Zone) and light on local flavor. Fells Point is a little better, but mostly features young frat-types getting sick on themselves. The Poe sites will take all of an hour?
There are two reasons to go to Baltimore and that's it:
-the only American League baseball stadium between New York and Florida
-cheap airfare out of BWI on Southwest
