Well the power is back and yes I REALLY want solar and/or wind power on my roof... like yesterday.
But the power outage was largely an "act of God" where the electric lines were probably hit by lightning causing a surge, a breakage in the lines, probably a blown transformer, and an imbalance in the electrical generation/usage equation that ultimately caused a cascade of generators to shut down. This doesn't mean I like it or that I think HECO isn't to blame for the incident being larger than it needed to be but that's life with electricity on an island. Anyway... back to my life and maybe the Headgear party (take2).
Aloha,
Pat
