That hotel room coffee maker has more uses than you think
It's so crazy, it JUST MIGHT WORK. Alton Brown from the Food Network's Good Eats has a much better use for your hotel room's coffee maker than for making weak, disgusting brew: use it to make oatmeal.
His recipe? Put two packets of oatmeal, honey and jam packets into the carafe, then put a tea bag in the filter. Run water through and you have a magic oatmeal concoction in no time!
Now, I'm not a big breakfast person nor a large fan of elaborate schemes to save $3, but this plan is too ingenious to ignore. I'm trying it on the road next week.

this rocks. I'll try this next time when I have to pull late nights prepping for meetings the next morning.

I've done this before with Instant Soup.

Aww Hell Yall! Your sooo behind! LOL I have been doing this and more for years! As a "B" scale flight attendant, you will find MANY ways to eat somthing hot when your on the road and only have enough $$$ to tip the van driver!
It also works with any canned meal...soups etc. In this case dont get in a hurry to eat, it takes awhile to get really hot and I would stir it every so often, but it WORKS! Just PLEASE wash that sucker out really well after your done! The hotel staff will thank you!
I might add I have moved up to eating out every so often, even with the big ole pay cuts!

Just one thing: Who knows what the heck is on the carafe and inside the coffee maker? I'd give it a good wash first...

I personally don't think I could bring myself to do something like that. I have heard horror stories about people cleaning their pantyhose in the coffeemaker by placing them where the coffee bag goes. Too hard for me to clean on my own! Who knows how often those things are cleaned properly, not to mention, what kind of baterica is building up in there!
