Yes one time on a direct flight from New York to Tampa my laptop computer went missing. When I asked about checking it they told me it would be perfectly safe because it was a direct flight. Needless to say it did not arrive in Tampa. I know I am stupid for checking it but I had my 5 month old daughther with me who was very sick and we were flying back from a hospital stay in New York and I couldn't handle everything.
