Worst gadget accident? Could be my father's first time visiting me in D.C., and his first time in the nation's capital. After taking my family on a whirlwind tour of all the monuments, he came home, fiddled with his digital camera, then looked up and asked me, "What does Format Memory Card mean?"
The next day, we went on another whirlwind tour of all the monuments, just so he could get his pictures again. This time, though, he was in a foul mood for the whole afternoon.

With the ringer set to vibrate, and after missing a couple of calls, my Blackberry crept toward the edge of my desk until it finally dropped over the edge and crashed down to the ground.

Elated at the purchase of my new 80GB ipod, I decided to join the ranks of Americans who feel proudly brand their products as their own. I decided to engrave my ipod, as a way of telling others "No Trespassing."
No sooner had I pulled the ipod from the box than it fell onto the rocky concrete outside my home, severely scratching that most important element: the screen.
I self-serving desire was now, somehow, made meaningless.

I guess you could call power tools, gadgets.
My worst experience was when my son dropped my circular saw in the swimming pool. I was building a fence around the pool at the time, to prevent such accidents.

Once, while drinking with friends, I lent my cellphone to a friend because they couldn't get reception on theirs in the bar. I turned around just in time to see her fumbling with it before it dropped in a jar of sangria. It worked for a bit afterwards but the keys were all sticky and would crunch when pressed.

dropped my treo 700wx face down into a drain with shallow water and facing the threat of continuously dripping water, but I couldn't reach down the grate to grab it so took about 2 hours before my buddy got a shovel to get it out. several hours later it dried off and I've been using it for 2 years since, even dropping it countless times

I will never forget the feeling I had, at Tintagel Castle (or what remains of it) on England's west coast. End of the roll of film, open the (film, remember those?) camera... forgot to rewind! AUGH. Slammed the back shut. Lost about 6 pics... and have never done it since!

i don't have one of my own but a friend dropped his very expensive SLR on a concrete sidewalk and broke it right before entering an event he was very excited to take pictures at.

Since a pen is still a "gadget" it would be when I was filling out my entry card form on a flight to London. My red pen dripped ink on the front of my light green pants. I was being greeted by my new boyfriend and it was quite a weird moment.

I got pushed in the pool in the British Virgin Islands with my BRAND NEW digital camera in my pocket. That sucked.

Worst gadget was when kayaking in Lake Tahoe and hubby dropped *new* Blackberry into lake. Water so clear we could watch it sink for a long time!

You guys remember what a CD player is right? THINK! Yea! A CD player! Well 100 years ago A co-worker of mine had just recieved a new one from her husband for Christmas. She was playing it as it was sitting on her tray table on board a flight. I opened the overhead bin and her winter coat fell out hitting a glass of soda which in turn flew in the air and landed upside down right on top of it.
For some reason it never played a CD again, she didn't speak to me the rest of our trip and I THINK she got a spanking when she got home! :-)

This might not be the worst but it is the most recent. After traveling an entire morning in hot humid weather at a amusement park in Taiwan, we hopped onto an ACed bus. My camera instantly fogged up and no matter what I tried to do even after we got off, I could not get the condensation on the inside of the camera lens off at all. My only day with my favorite cousins that I had not seen in six years resulted in only 4 photographs that were taken earlier :(

While in the hot tub with a few friends, I wanted to get a picture with all of us in it. So I set the camera timer, get it situated juuust right on the edge of the hot tub, so all of will fit into the shot, start the timer, run around to the other side of the tub to hop in before the timer goes off, and managed to get my smile in place JUST in time to see the camera slide off the side of the hot tub and into the water...never did get the picture!

My worst experience with gadgets is I had my Ipod in my shirt pocket and I bent down to sit on the toilet and sure enough it fell out right into the toilet. UGGG!!!
That was not a good day fishing!

Not really "my" accident, but happened to my stuff. My roommate's 11-year old son was going to a party and after a lot of whining and promises to be careful, I finally allowed him to take my 1-month old camera with him. He took a bunch of pictures, stuck the camera in his pocket, and went swimming. Now, he's not allowed to touch a common pencil that belongs to me.

After completing a full afternoon of kayaking on the White River without mishap, coming into the take out area, I managed to turn the kayak over and lose a relatively new camera ... never to be seen again!
