Baby born at 33,000 feet during long-haul Finnair flight
Back in the summer I posted about a woman going into labor on a Korean Air flight and giving birth at 37,000 feet. Now comes the latest high altitude delivery. A Swedish woman traveling on a Finnair flight today gave birth to a baby girl at 33,000 feet while flying over Kazakhstan on her way from Helsinki to Bangkok.
Who came to the woman's aid? Luckily there were two doctors and two nurses among the 227 passengers on this 11-hour flight; they quickly responded, stayed by the woman's side and saw her through the delivery (technically, they only assisted the birth, since there was a satellite hook-up to medical service on the ground).
Finnair says it's the first time a baby has ever been born on one of its flights, and is reportedly giving the new family a free return trip from Bangkok.
Both mother and new born daughter are reportedly doing fine.

How is that a miracle......the baby was going to be born regardless. Anyway, she isn't that cute, her nose is rather large.

Hey, that's a cute baby! The lighting in the photo is horrible.
Besides, your nose would be swollen too if you had your face shoved through a vagina.

My wife gave birth to four wonderful girls. I am "awed". "good word?" by the process. Women have done this forever. Miracle it is not. Sorry. I respect ypu mpm's.

Sorry, that is "YOU MOM'S" not ypu mpm's.

I have seen hundreds of newborns, and her nose is not swollen because she passed thru a vagina. She just has a large nose.

HA that is a large nose. But either way yes I'm sure that this happens "All the time" but that doesn't mean that its not kinda cool to hear about it happen. New life is always interesting.

Just wondering, what citizenship would this baby have? Obviously the citizenship of the land of it's parents, but when babies are born in a foreign country they also automatically have citizenship in that country also. At least that's how it is in the US and most civilized countries. So what happens at 37,000 feet? Is it whatever country you happen to be flying over at that time? Is it who's airspace your in? Is it where you land? That's how it works to a certain degree on a train as far as following the laws of the land. When I travelled by train on Amtrak across the country and also down through the south in the club car they could not sell alcoholic beverages while they were physically going through a "dry" county. So, the bartender would announced that a dry county was coming up in 15 minutes or whatever and some people would buy several drinks till we passed out of the county and the bar would open again. Seemed a very stupid way of doing things as people got around the laws anyway and it wasn't as if the people were going to step outside a train doing 75 miles an hour to be roaming in the streets. When you're on a plane or ship or train you're almost part of your own little country at the time. Ever travel for 3 days across the country with the same people in the train car with you? It's funny how interactions and acquaintances begin. Everyone should do it at least once in their life. I hope the best for this baby. It will always have a fun story to tell about it's birth. It should be an interesting birth certificate too.

I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. Babies are born everyday in all type of situtations, while I was glad to see that mother and child were fine you people need to get a life and stop wasting your time being so negitive about everything.
