Two Qantas jets collide, but were not carrying passengers
Late last month I wrote a post questioning whether Gadling had it in for Qantas airlines, the national carrier of Australia. It seems that we have posted a lot of negative stuff about the airline this year (well, not a lot of negative stuff, but a fair amount, I guess). I don't think we're being unfair to the Down Under carrier, but it's just that...things keep happening to it.
Take yesterday, for example, when two Qantas jets collided on a runway outside Melbourne. Luckily, there were no passenger on board. The jets were being towed to a maintenance hangar at Melbourne's small Avalon Airport. The nose of one plane hit the left wing of the other, says the Associated Press.
One of the planes involved in this collision was damaged in July in a midair explosion.
Alas, I guess it's just one of those years for Qantas.

Wow, Qantas is the only major air carrier to never have had a crash and now they seem to have all these problems. Still, great airline.

I'll probably be on AOL's sh--t List but I agree with a comment that AOL is and has been an Online National Enquirer along with being a political hackey for the Socialists.

Runway collision??? I have flown into Avalon on Jetstar, the budget airline under Qantas and no wonder they collided being towed because
the airport consist of one runway and a terminal about the size of an average size barn. Sounds like Qantas could find a larger airport to do their repairs...no?

"RAINMAN" Babbit would still only fly Quantis. "quantis never crashed, Quantis never crashed" unless some moron pot smoking idiot towed him into another plane.

Wheather a aircraft is being towed (not under it's own power), or with the aircrafts engines running. According with FAA regulations, or with most countries civil avaition regulations. When a collision occurs the offending airlines have to report that collision. They have to do a aircraft collision inspection to check for damage etc.
So believe it or not those aircraft did in fact collide.
I have had to do several aircraft collosin inspection during my US Naval Career as a Avaition Structural Mechanic.

What a load of crap! Collided? These idiot "authors" will do anything to get a click on their stories.

I work as a mechanic for a major airline. These type "collisions" happen about 2-3 times per week. Usually these happen due to overcrowding at the gate area(Airliners.net usually shows pictures of these). It is a shame they are only reporting on one airline.

This "story" is a great example of why AOL "news" is nearly worthless. The headline and the story are often almost unrelated.

I lose respect when journalists such as Mr. White use misleading words to attact people to read their articles that are otherwise not worth reading.
Look, i don't have a degree in journalism and even i can do it ...
"4 year old child jumps from building and survives!!!! "
"A 4 yr old child is safe after jumping off the family pets doghouse earlier today...."

And I thought it was Dustin Hoffman's character 'Rainman' that said "Quantas never crashed" Now Rainman can't even fly Quantas!
