As Brenda wrote, Waipapa Bay is in Kaikoura which is on the upper eastern coast of New Zealand's South Island.
Kaikoura is a Maori word. "Kai" means food, and "koura" means crayfish (salt or freshwater), so the area has always been well-known for its abundance of the spiny crustacean.
It's even better to dive and catch one for yourself, except when you turn it over and discover that it's a female carrying eggs. In this case, it's law that you have to release her so that she has a chance to lay her eggs and repopulate her species.
Goodbye dinner - sob!
